ShodhKosh: Journal of Visual and Performing Arts, is a half-yearly journal of visual and performing arts, in which research papers are published in Hindi and English language. This journal combines all topics related to Arts. The main objective of the journal is to make academics, scholars and students studying all aspects of arts. Through the journal, we want to provide the form of a repository by collecting all research papers related to the subjects of all arts. And this is our main objective.
The journal invites research works based on real important and difficult elements related to visual and performing arts. The journal mainly encourages a series of own views of important subjects. The key subject consists of:
These topics are addressed in full-length academic articles, critical statements on current issues, developmental practice, and reviews of books and live/media-based visual and performing arts.
The journal presents an innovative platform for researchers, students, practitioners, and educators to both learn from and contribute to the field. All articles are subject to initial Editor screening and then a rigorous double-blind peer-review process before publication.

Each article published in ShodhKosh: Journal of Visual and Performing Arts contributes toward the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through scholarship in visual arts, music, dance, drama/theatre, handicrafts, design, and audio-visual media, the journal connects creative practice with pressing social, cultural, and environmental issues.
ShodhKosh particularly supports:
SDG 4: Quality Education- By advancing arts education, creative pedagogy, and visual–performative methods that foster critical thinking, cultural literacy, and imagination in learners of all ages—on stage, in studios, and in classrooms.
SDG 5: Gender Equality- By examining how visual art, music, dance, drama, film, and digital media represent and reframe gender, and by highlighting practices that challenge stereotypes and promote more inclusive cultural spaces.
SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth- By exploring creative economies—from handicrafts and textiles to design, event management, and performance-based industries—and their role in sustainable livelihoods for artists, artisans, designers, and performers.
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities- By giving voice to diverse communities and cultural identities through fine arts, music, dance, and theatre, and by showing how performance and visual storytelling can contest exclusion and support social justice.
SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities- By foregrounding cultural heritage, indigenous crafts, vernacular architecture, and community-based artistic practices that sustain living traditions and inspire resilient, culturally rich communities.
SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production- By encouraging research on sustainable materials, eco-friendly textiles, vegan leather alternatives, and responsible design practices across fashion, interiors, and production for stage and screen.
SDG 13: Climate Action- By engaging with nature-inspired art, climate-aware design, and environmentally responsive performance and architectural practices that build public awareness of ecological change.
We welcome submissions from dancers, choreographers, actors, theatre practitioners, musicians, visual artists, designers, artisans, filmmakers, educators, researchers, cultural organizations, and policymakers. By bringing together practice-based insights and rigorous research, ShodhKosh fosters collaboration across disciplines, stages, studios, and communities—advancing both the arts and the Sustainable Development Goals.
