EDUCATIONAL STATUS OF INDIAN WOMEN: A HISTORICAL STUDY

Abstract [English]

Girls' education is a great opportunity for the social and economic development of India. Educated girls are the weapons that have a positive impact on the Indian society through their contribution in their home and professional fields. They are the reason for a better economy in the country and society. The objectives of this paper are: to evaluate the current status and challenges of girls' education in India; and to provide possible suggestions to overcome the challenges of girls' education in India. To conduct this study the researcher has used a variety of articles, reports, research papers, books, government websites and online materials. This paper is divided into four parts. The first part highlights the historical context and importance of girls' education in India. The second part discusses the current status of girls' education in India. The third part describes in detail the major steps taken by the Indian government to improve girls' education and the various challenges of girls' education. The last section gives suggestions to remove the barriers to girls' education in India. The paper concludes by saying that girls' education is in a much worse state at primary and secondary level than higher education. Girls' enrollment rate has declined from 2012 to 2015 at primary and secondary level, but girls' gross enrollment ratio has increased from 2012 to 2015 at higher education level. Parental attitude, lack of infrastructure, lack of security, superstitions related to girls, socio-economic status of parents are the major challenges to promote girls' education in India. It is suggested in this paper that higher authorities, community members, NGOs and all citizens of India should take responsibility to eliminate various barriers related to girls' education from our society.

लड़कियों की शिक्षा भारत के सामाजिक और आर्थिक विकास के लिए एक बड़ा अवसर है। शिक्षित लड़कियाँ वे हथियार हैं जो अपने घर और पेशेवर क्षेत्रों में योगदान के माध्यम से भारतीय समाज पर सकारात्मक प्रभाव डालती हैं। वे देश और समाज में बेहतर अर्थव्यवस्था का कारण हैं। इस पत्र के उद्देश्य हैं: भारत में लड़कियों की शिक्षा की वर्तमान स्थिति और चुनौतियों का मूल्यांकन करना; और भारत में लड़कियों की शिक्षा की चुनौतियों को पार करने के लिए संभावित सुझाव प्रदान करना। इस अध्ययन को करने के लिए शोधकर्ता ने विभिन्न प्रकार के लेख, रिपोर्ट, अनुसंधान पत्र, किताबें, सरकारी वेबसाइटें और ऑनलाइन सामग्री का उपयोग किया है। यह पत्र चार भागों में बांटा गया है। पहले भाग में भारत में लड़कियों की शिक्षा के ऐतिहासिक संदर्भ और महत्व पर प्रकाश डाला गया है। दूसरे भाग में भारत में लड़कियों की शिक्षा की वर्तमान स्थिति पर चर्चा की गई है। तीसरे भाग में भारत सरकार द्वारा लड़कियों की शिक्षा सुधारने के लिए उठाए गए प्रमुख कदमों और लड़कियों की शिक्षा की विभिन्न चुनौतियों का विस्तार से वर्णन किया गया है। अंतिम भाग में भारत में लड़कियों की शिक्षा की बाधाओं को दूर करने के लिए सुझाव दिए गए हैं। पत्र में निष्कर्ष के रूप में कहा गया है कि लड़कियों की शिक्षा प्राथमिक और माध्यमिक स्तर पर उच्च शिक्षा के मुकाबले बहुत खराब स्थिति में है। प्राथमिक और माध्यमिक स्तर पर 2012 से 2015 तक लड़कियों की नामांकन दर में गिरावट आई है, लेकिन उच्च शिक्षा स्तर पर 2012 से 2015 तक लड़कियों का सकल नामांकन अनुपात बढ़ा है। माता-पिता का दृष्टिकोण, अवसंरचना की कमी, सुरक्षा की कमी, लड़कियों से संबंधित अंधविश्वास, माता-पिता की सामाजिक-आर्थिक स्थिति भारत में लड़कियों की शिक्षा को बढ़ावा देने के लिए प्रमुख चुनौतियाँ हैं। इस पत्र में यह सुझाव दिया गया है कि उच्च अधिकारी, समुदाय के सदस्य, गैर-सरकारी संगठन और भारत के सभी नागरिकों को हमारी समाज से लड़कियों की शिक्षा से संबंधित विभिन्न बाधाओं को समाप्त करने की जिम्मेदारी लेनी चाहिए।
