'Social awareness' is an important feature of science literature. In order to bring the society out of the traditional yoke, which was mired in undesirable practices and traditions, it was necessary to adopt scientific thinking. Science is special knowledge. Science is development. Literature reflects the real society. Literary science dates back to the development at the beginning of creation. Science creates a vision of reality. Bal Fondake's story. His collection of stories, Vdidal, certainly depicts how humans and their interactions will be in the future.

‘समाजजागृती’ हे विज्ञान साहित्याचे महत्वपूर्ण वैशिष्ट्य आहे. अनिष्ट्य प्रथा व परंपरेमध्ये आकंठ बुडालेल्या समाजाला पारंपारिक जोखडातून बाहेर काढण्यासाठी शास्त्रीय म्हणजेच वैज्ञानिक विचाराचा अंगीकार करणे आवश्यक होते. विज्ञान म्हणजेच विशेष ज्ञान. विज्ञान म्हणजेच विकास. साहित्यामधून समाजाचे वास्तव प्रतिबिंब उमटत असते. सृष्टीच्या प्रारंभातील विकासापासून साहित्यविज्ञान आढळते. विज्ञान हे वास्तविकतेचे दर्शन घडविते हेच वास्तविकतेचे दर्शन डॉ. बाळ फोंडके ह्यांच्या कथामधून दिसून येते. येणाऱ्या पुढील काळात मानव व त्याचे परस्परसंबध कसे राहील याचे चित्रण त्यांच्या ‘व्दिदल’ या कथासंग्रहामध्ये निश्चितपणे सापडते.
