Abstract [English]

The advent of Cinema in India happened under the British rule. At that time, the country was fighting colonialism by adopting a new political and cultural discourse. The presented research paper is based on the reciprocity of those ideological discussions with cinema, which starts from colonial India and extends till independent India. In this journey, various themes of silent cinema (Raja Harishchandra, 1913) and talkies (1931, Alamara), its struggle against colonialism, social and political commitments have been studied critically
