ROLE OF REGIONAL PARTIES IN 17TH LOK SABHA ELECTIONS: A THEORETICAL STUDY

Abstract [English]

The 17th Lok Sabha elections in India in 2019 were a dynamic shift in Indian politics where regional parties were important, sometimes even decisive. Instead of national parties like the BJP and the Congress opposing the existence of two separate formations, there is a sense of emergence of external leadership among some national parties, such as the process of the leader of the government becoming publicly detached from the party. This paper analyses their importance regionally in the 2019 electoral exercise through their strategies adopted while forming alliances and performances in specific states. Such findings provide a deeper insight into how regional parties focus their agenda on local issues and regional identities, thereby shaping the national political debate-outcomes. Thus, through a precise analysis of success and failure by regional parties, it intends to highlight their growing importance in contemporary politics with respect to the overall balance of power in relation to the Lok Sabha. According to the findings, while regional parties continue to play local politics, this possibly ensures significant space for alliances as they then become the ideal key to certain policy decisions and, indeed, national governance.

भारत में २०१९ में हुए सत्रहवें लोकसभा चुनाव भारतीय राजनीति में उस परिप्रेक्ष्य से आयाम बदल रहे थे, जहां क्षेत्रीय दल महत्वपूर्ण थे, कभी-कभी निर्णायक भी। भाजपा और कांग्रेस जैसी राष्ट्रीय पार्टियां, दो अन्य संरचनाओं के अलग-अलग अस्तित्व का विरोध करने के बजाय, कुछ राष्ट्रीय दलों के बीच बाहरी नेतृत्व के उद्भव जैसी समझ रखती हैं, जैसे कि सरकार के नेता की प्रक्रिया सार्वजनिक रूप से अलग हो जाना। यह शोधपत्र २०१९ के चुनावी अभ्यास में क्षेत्रीय रूप से उनके महत्व का विश्लेषण करता है, जो कि गठबंधन बनाते समय अपनाई गई उनकी रणनीतियों और विशिष्ट राज्यों में प्रदर्शनों के माध्यम से है। इस तरह के निष्कर्ष इस बात पर और गहराई से विचार करते है कि क्षेत्रीय दल अपने एजेंडे को स्थानीय मुद्दों और क्षेत्रीय पहचानों पर कैसे केंद्रित करते हैं, जिससे राष्ट्रीय राजनीतिक बहस-परिणामों को बढ़ावा मिलता है । इस प्रकार, क्षेत्रीय दलों द्वारा सफलता और विफलता के सटीक विश्लेषण के माध्यम से, यह लोकसभा के संबंध में शक्ति के समग्र संतुलन के संबंध में समकालीन राजनीति में उनके बढ़ते महत्व को उजागर करने का इरादा रखता है। निष्कर्षों के अनुसार, जबकि क्षेत्रीय दल स्थानीय राजनीति करना जारी रखते हैं, यह संभवतः गठबंधन के लिए महत्वपूर्ण स्थान सुनिश्चित करता है क्योंकि वे तब कुछ नीतिगत निर्णयों और वास्तव में, राष्ट्रीय शासन की आदर्श कुंजी बन जाते हैं।
