Abstract [English]

This study examines the complex relationship between literature, environmental issues, and the work of Amitav Ghosh's "The Gun Island." Examining the novel's influence on environmental discourse and public consciousness in an age of intensifying climate catastrophes is the goal of this study. Amitav Ghosh's "The Gun Island" is a fascinating case study in the literary reaction to the climatic catastrophe because of the author's distinctive narrative technique, which combines fictional and real aspects. Ghosh uses ecological themes to show how humans and nature are interwoven in her novels. The protagonist's journey stresses global ecological issues and the necessity to address climate change. The research delves into Ghosh's use of literary methods, symbolism, and storytelling to evoke both emotional and intellectual responses from readers to the climate issue. This study seeks to shed light on the power of literature to educate, inspire, and mobilise people to take action by analysing the novel through the lens of eco-critical discourse. "The Gun Island" has the ability to bring together various groups, such as scholars, policymakers, and members of the public, to have meaningful conversations and work together, according to the research. This study adds to the continuing conversation on the interdependent nature of literature and the pressing need to tackle the climate catastrophe by investigating the novel's impact on readers' views and sentiments towards the natural world. In the end, the results highlight how literature may change people's minds about environmental issues and inspire them to take action to protect Earth for future generations.
