Abstract [English]

A student's level of aspiration is a significant psychological factor that influences their educational development, future achievements, and vocational goals. A high level of aspiration motivates students to work harder, attain higher academic achievement, and cultivate a positive outlook toward their future. The objective of the present research paper is to conduct a comparative study of the levels of aspiration among students attending government and private schools. For this study, a sample comprising Class 9 students enrolled in secondary-level schools within the Raipur district of Chhattisgarh state was selected. Data were collected from a total of 800 students (400 from government schools and 400 from private schools). To measure the students' levels of aspiration, the Educational Aspiration Scale developed by Dr. V. P. Sharma and Dr. Anuradha Gupta was utilized. The collected data were analyzed using measures of mean, standard deviation, and the independent samples t-test. The results of the study revealed that there exists a statistically significant difference in the levels of aspiration between students attending government schools and those attending private schools. This study offers valuable guidance within the field of education for understanding students' aspirations and providing them with appropriate direction.
