Abstract [English]

This research paper, titled "Chronological Influence of Art on Hindi Literature," provides an exhaustive and multidimensional exploration of the symbiotic relationship between Hindi literature and the visual arts—specifically painting, sculpture, and architecture—spanning over a millennium. The core thesis of this study posits that literature and art are not isolated islands of human expression but are two parallel streams originating from the same cultural and aesthetic consciousness. While literature utilizes 'word' and 'sound' to give form to invisible emotions, art employs 'color', 'line', and 'space' to render invisible thoughts visible. This research argues that the history of Hindi literature is not merely an evolution of linguistic structures but is a profound linguistic translation of the prevailing artistic tastes, architectural styles, and aesthetic benchmarks of each successive era.The study systematically deconstructs the 'Heroic Ballad' tradition of the Adikal (c. 1050–1375) within the framework of contemporary 'Fort Architecture' and stone sculpture. It establishes a direct correlation between the linguistic rigidity of the Dingar-Pingal styles and the impregnable nature of medieval stone fortifications. Moving into the Bhakti Period, the paper investigates the influence of temple architecture and Saguna (iconographic) sculpture on devotional poetry. It highlights how the vivid imagery in the works of Surdas and Tulsidas serves as a literary mirror to the sanctified visual culture of Indian temples. Furthermore, the analysis of the Riti Period uncovers the intricate connections between the techniques of 'Miniature Painting' and the microscopic precision found in the couplets of poets like Bihari. In the Modern Era, the research focuses on the Chhayavad movement, identifying how nature poetry integrated the fluidity of 'Impressionism' and 'Watercolors' into its verses. Additionally, the paper addresses the contemporary landscape, examining how cinema, digital art, and photography have revolutionized the 'narrative arc' of modern Hindi novels and poetry. By employing a rigorous Qualitative and Comparative Methodology, this study concludes that art and literature are mutually constitutive; an artist’s subconscious is permanently etched with the visual archetypes of their time, which spontaneously manifest during the creative process. This paper serves as a seminal interdisciplinary contribution, offering a new lens for scholars of Hindi literature and art history to view the cultural unity of Indian creative expression.
