THE SOCIAL STRUCTURE OF THE MEITEIS OF MANIPUR

The Meiteis of Manipur have experienced changes in their social organization due to forces coming from different directions. The cultural and social changes brought by the influence of exposure to different neighbouring communities and the impact of the same in the internal social structure has been described in this article with the aim to provide the reader a bird’s eye view of the Meitei society and its social organization.
