JAMBUWANTRAO DHOTE'S CONTRIBUTION TO MAHARASHTRA POLITICS

Abstract [English]

Jambuwantrao Dhote was interested in politics since his school life. While studying in college, he decided to do public welfare work. He had formed his organizations to solve the problems of people like farmers, agricultural laborers, workers, auto drivers, tong drivers, owners. Through this organization, Dhote tried to solve the problems of workers, farmers, agricultural laborers. Through administration, he was taking the problems of the people to the government and getting them resolved. While studying in college, he had closely observed the political changes taking place in the then Indian situation. During this period, the Samyukta Maharashtra movement was gaining momentum. Naturally, Jambuwantrao Dhote participated in the movement. Through this movement, he became aware of the politics of the country. In the Samyukta Maharashtra movement, he disrupted the meetings of Vidarbha activists. He was actively involved in the Samyukta Maharashtra movement. Due to his aggressiveness, he was expelled from the college. But his passion for politics and the problems of the people did not allow him to sit idly by. He was not happy with this job as a physical education teacher in the municipal council school. He started working to solve the problems occurring in the cities of Yavatmal. He became their leader by solving the problems of the Kolam, tribal and Dalit people in Yavatmal city. After this, Dhote contested the Yavatmal Nagar Panchayat election and entered local politics. Due to the immense support of the people, Jambuwantrao Dhote became famous in Yavatmal district within a short period of time. The people preferred him as a candidate for the Legislative Assembly and he became the MLA of Yavatmal. He traveled his political life from a member of the Nagar Panchayat to an MLA of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, an MP of the Lok Sabha and a king maker who formed the government. After 1985, he was constantly away from power politics. He devoted his entire life to the movement for an independent Vidarbha state.

जांबुवंतराव धोटे यांना विद्यालयीन जीवनापासूनच राजकारणाची आवड होती. महाविद्यालयात शिक्षण घेत असतानाच त्यांनी जन कल्याणाचे कार्य करण्याचे ठरविले होते.शेतकरी, शेतमजूर, कामगार, ऑटो चालक, टांगा चालक, मालक यासारख्या लोकांच्या समस्या सोडविण्यासाठी त्यांनी त्यांच्या संघटना निर्माण केल्या होत्या. या संघटनेच्या माध्यमातून धोटे यांनी कामगार,शेतकरी,शेतमजूर यांच्या समस्या सोडविण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. प्रशासनाच्या माध्यमातून शासनापर्यंत जनतेच्या समस्या पोहोचवून त्याची सोडवणूक करून घेत होते. महाविद्यालयात शिक्षण घेत असताना तत्कालीन भारतीय परिस्थितीत होणारे राजकीय बदल त्यांनी जवळून पाहिले होते. या काळामध्ये संयुक्त महाराष्ट्र चळवळ जोर धरत होती. साहजिकच जांबुवंतराव धोटे यांनी चळवळीत भाग घेतला. या चळवळीच्या माध्यमातून देशाच्या राजकारणाचे त्यांना जाणीव झाली. संयुक्त महाराष्ट्र चळवळीमध्ये त्यांनी विदर्भवाद्यांच्या सभा उधळून लावल्या.त्यांच्या संयुक्त महाराष्ट्र आंदोलनात सक्रिय सहभाग होता. त्यांच्या आक्रमकपणा मुळे त्यांना महाविद्यालयातून बडतर्फ करण्यात आले. पण राजकारण आणि जनतेच्या समस्य प्रती असलेली तळमळ त्यांना स्वस्त बसू देत नव्हती. त्यांचे नगरपरिषदेच्या शाळेतील शारीरिक शिक्षक या नोकरीत मन रमत नव्हते. यवतमाळ शहरांमध्ये होणाऱ्या समस्या सोडवण्यासाठी त्यांनी कार्य करण्यास सुरुवात केली. यवतमाळ शहरातील कोलाम,आदिवासी व दलित या लोकांच्या समस्या सोडवून ते त्यांचे नेते झाले. यानंतर धोटे यांनी यवतमाळ नगरपंचायत ची निवडणूक लढवून स्थानिक राजकारणात आपले पाऊल ठेवले. जनतेच्या प्रचंड पाठिंब्या मुळे जांबुवंतराव धोटे हे थोळ्या कालावधीतच यवतमाळ जिल्ह्यामध्ये प्रसिद्धीस आले. जनतेने त्यांना विधानसभेसाठी उमेदवार म्हणून पसंती दिली आणि ते यवतमाळचे आमदार झाले. नगरपंचायत चे सदस्य ते महाराष्ट्र विधानसभेचे आमदार, लोकसभेचे खासदार आणि सरकार बनवणारे किंग मेकर म्हणून त्यांनी आपल्या राजकीय जीवनाचा प्रवास केला. इ.स.१९८५ नंतरच्या काळात ते सत्तेच्या राजकारणापासून सतत दूर होते. त्यांनी आपले संपूर्ण जीवन स्वतंत्र विदर्भ राज्याच्या आंदोलनासाठी खर्ची घातले.
