ETHNIC IDENTITY AND ELECTORAL POLITICS IN BIHAR: FROM INDEPENDENCE TO MANDAL'S POLITICS

This research paper examines the dynamics of caste and identity politics from the era of post -independence in Bihar. This highlights the continuous role of caste in the socio-political changes and electoral behavior brought by the leaders of the backward caste and the historical development of caste-based political mobilization. This paper investigates major political movements and developments such as the rise of the Janata Dal and the establishment of the Mandal Commission report and their influence on the political scenario of Bihar. In the end the paper states that the politics of development oriented governance and caste -based identity dominates the political field of Bihar.

यह शोध पत्र बिहार में स्वतंत्रता के बाद के युग से मंडल पूर्व तक जाति और पहचान की राजनीति की गतिशीलता की पड़ताल करता है। यह जाति आधारित राजनीतिक लामबंदी के ऐतिहासिक विकास पिछड़ी जाति के नेताओं द्वारा लाए गए सामाजिक-राजनीतिक परिवर्तनों और चुनावी व्यवहार को आकार देने में जाति की लगातार भूमिका पर प्रकाश डालता है। इस पेपर में प्रमुख राजनीतिक आंदोलनों और घटनाक्रमों की जांच की गई है जैसे कि जनता दल का उदय और मंडल आयोग की रिपोर्ट की स्थापनाए और बिहार के राजनीतिक परिदृश्य पर उनके प्रभाव। अंत में पेपर बताता है कि विकासोन्मुखी शासन और जाति आधारित पहचान की राजनीति बिहार के राजनीतिक क्षेत्र में हावी है।
